Sweet Vanitas, brevity of life how fragile I am.

Light extinguished too soon–candle half spent–I grieve.
This shell, so inadequate for the magnitude of the soul housed within,
grapples with eternity.

Embrace my mortality, Father.

Comfort the ache of sickness, dying, loss; flesh to bone, bone to dust.
Impart all-consuming peace as our earthen vessels
yield to the great mystery;
everlasting passing through feeble sheaths of flesh and marrow.
